Raptor electrocutions are a persistent problem for many electric
utilities. The information within this website will provide
utilities with a better understanding of the scope of the problem
and will present tools that can effectively address raptor
electrocutions. The result will be fewer electrocutions, improved
electric service reliability and increased compliance with laws
protecting migratory birds.
The
primary objective of this website is to educate utilities on the
current state-of-the-art of raptor protection and laws protecting
these birds.
It
is our hope that you'll use this site the same way as you would use a library or
reference desk; it is intended that the site provide you with
state-of-the-art information and technology aimed toward preventing
raptor electrocutions.

The issue of
raptor electrocution is important to EDM and the Environmental
Services Division of our company. With regard to prevention of
raptor electrocutions, we've developed instructional seminars and
workshops and have given conference presentations all over the world.
EDM’s
focus will continue to be our ability to provide utilities with increased system reliability and
reduced operations and maintenance costs, while providing a positive
approach to minimize wildlife mortalities and reduce the increasing
pressures on utilities from regulatory requirements and public
involvement. We're hoping this
website will
assist utilities with the development and implementation of bird
management guidelines to comply with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act
and the Eagle Protection Act.
